Yesterday, Ford announced via a press release that the F-150 EcoBoost recently won PickupTrucks.com's Texas Truck Showdown Max MPG fuel economy challenge. After going head-to-head with four other models, including the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, F-150 was declared the winner thanks to its impressive combination of utility and fuel efficiency.

“In the end, we were impressed with the F-150 for its capability, fuel efficiency and composure when pushed hard," said Mark Williams, editor of PickupTrucks.com. “For a small V-6 engine, it’s very impressive how well it almost eliminates the typical compromises half-ton customers have become accustomed to.”

The 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine outputs 325 horsepower and 375 pound-feet of torque. It has a max towing capacity of 8,500 pounds and a max payload rating of 2,250 pounds. Thanks to a standard Auto Start-Stop system, fuel economy ratings are listed as 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined.

“We designed Ford F-150 to be a game changer,” said Doug Scott, Ford truck group marketing manager. “We’re proud that customers and third parties recognize the all-new F-150 as the toughest, smartest, most capable and most efficient F-150 ever.”
