2025 Ford Explorer vs 2024 Ford Explorer

Serving Richardson, TX

Over several decades, Ford has progressively evolved the popular Explorer SUV with brilliant updates. Improvements to its style, engineering, and features across several generations have made the Explorer a top option for shoppers in the Richardson area. The 2025 Explorer brings numerous improvements online to check out and enjoy.

Performance

The trim lineup for the 2025 Ford Explorer has been consolidated into four options. The new trim lineup includes the Active, ST-Line, ST and Platinum. The powertrains and mechanical features for the 2024 Explorer are comparable to those in the 2025 model year, but the all-new BlueCruise hands-free driving technology is introduced. The lower trim levels for both years have a turbo 2.3-liter, four-cylinder, 300-horsepower engine. The higher Explorer trims have a turbo 3.0-liter, V6, 400-horsepower system. These engines have an automatic 10-speed transmission and rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional.

Appearance

In 2025, the Ford Explorer benefits from subtle front and rear styling updates. On the nose, the Explorer's grille, air inlets, and LED headlights have been modernized. The taillights also have an updated, fresh look. A black-painted roof is available for the first time on the St-Line, ST, and Platinum levels. The commanding profile is unchanged and features flat angles throughout the roof and side. The exquisite side sculpting is also unchanged.

Features

Several updates are also found inside the 2025 Ford Explorer, including a few new color options. In addition, the soft-touch materials are upgraded, and the Ford Digital Experience is new. This software gives you app access, native streaming, and internet browsing while the Explorer is parked. Many of the 2024 Explorer's features are also offered for the 2025 model year. These include a surround-view camera, a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, ambient lighting, a navigation system, USB ports, heated seats for the first and second rows, captain's chairs in the second row, lane departure mitigation, wireless smart device connections, forward collision mitigation, a hands-free liftgate, a panoramic sunroof, and a three-zone climate management system.
