2020 Ford Explorer vs 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Serving Richardson, TX

The 2020 Ford Explorer is a reliable SUV with a redesign for 2020. The Explorer offers plenty of power and standard rear-wheel drive. It is a top-rated vehicle in its class for safety. The Ford Explorer has a versatile seating configuration that gives you the option of seating for six to seven people with the available captain's chairs. The Explorer comes loaded with features at all trim levels, offering an assortment of amenities while providing exceptional value. The 2020 Ford Explorer belongs to the same class as the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, one of its chief competitors. However, the Ford Explorer has more interior configurations options than the Grand Cherokee with the option for captain's chairs. The Explorer also has more safety features and performs better in crash tests, and it has more amenities across the board to provide great value on all trims.

Technology & Safety

The Ford Explorer gets off to a strong start in the area of safety and technology. At a minimum, you will get a hands-free power liftgate, an eight-inch touchscreen display with Ford's SYNC infotainment technology, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The Explorer includes WiFi at the base trim level, and it also includes satellite radio. On the other hand, the Grand Cherokee only begins with a seven-inch infotainment screen, and it does not get satellite radio or WiFi. The Explorer is also rigged with Ford's innovative CoPilot360 safety package, which earns its five-star ratings in crash tests by the NHTSA. At the same time, the Grand Cherokee has fewer safety features and only gets four-star safety ratings at most.

Interior Design

The 2020 Ford Explorer has a cavernous interior, no matter which trim level you choose. The Explorer has a generous amount of storage capacity in the trunk as-is, but its split-folding seats provide even more room as needed. The Explorer is also adorned with high-end touches starting with the base trim level. The Jeep Grand Cherokee has less space in the trunk than the Ford Explorer. Additionally, it is only available with one seating configuration, while you have a choice of seats for six with captain's chairs on the Explorer.

Value

The Ford Explorer has several standard amenities at all trim levels, but it packs in all those features at a surprisingly low cost. While the Explorer comes standard with various features, you have to add on most amenities to the Grand Cherokee, including more advanced safety aids, which can increase the price tag quickly.
