Ford Explorer arrives in the market with multiple engine variants that offer a vast range of power and versatility. Like most Ford vehicles, it has a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with a rating of 300 horsepower and a torque value of 310 pound-feet.

The four-cylinder engine mates with a ten-speed auto transmission and uses the rear-wheel-drive (RWD). Alternatively, drivers can select a Ford explorer utilizing the all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration. The Explorer Hybrid runs on a 3.3-liter engine that connects to an electric motor to release 322 pound-feet of torque and 318 horsepower.

It comes standard with the RWD setup and ten-speed transmission. The Platinum and King Ranch have a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that develops a marked 365 horsepower. However, the ST and Enthusiast ST utilize the twin-turbo V6 engine to put out 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. The twin-turbocharged V6 engine has a city and highway gas economy of 18 mpg and 24 mpg.
