What's New for the 2025 Ford Explorer?
The Ford Explorer debuted several decades ago and has long been a leading option for SUV shoppers in the Richardson area. It has progressively evolved over those years with minor improvements as well as major generational updates. Going into the 2025 model year, the Ford Explorer is in the middle of its current generation, and numerous updates are introduced. These improvements begin with a slimmer trim lineup. The trim options for 2025 are Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum.
The exterior of the 2024 Ford Explorer reflects thoughtful updates at the front and rear. The Explorer's dimensions and muscular side contouring are unchanged, but the headlights and taillights have been modernized. At the front, the air intake and the rectangular grille also have a fresh look. For the first time, a black roof option is introduced for the Platinum, ST, and ST-Line trim levels.
The improvements to the 2025 Ford Explorer continue inside the cabin with soft-touch materials on the door panels and center console. The infotainment system now includes the Ford Digital Experience with connected apps, native streaming, and internet browsing. Another update is the introduction of BlueCruise hands-free driving. The many other features offered in the 2025 Explorer were also available in the 2024 version. Some of these include auto emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, a rear cross-traffic alert, leather upholstery, a wireless internet hotspot, forward collision detection with mitigation, a Bang & Olufsen sound system with a dozen speakers, three 12-volt outlets, eight USB ports, a 13.2-inch touch display screen, Google and Amazon services, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
The 2025 Ford Explorer's performance capabilities are unchanged. This SUV continues to be available with a four-cylinder, turbo 2.3-liter, 300-horsepower engine and a V6, 3.0-liter turbo, 400-horsepower alternative. With proper equipment, the Explorer can tow 5,000 pounds. A 10-speed auto transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard for all trims, and all-wheel drive is offered.
