What's New for the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning?

Ford has a long-standing reputation for being an innovator in the auto industry, and this is on full display with the debut of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. This all-electric, full-size truck has many traits in common with the traditional F-150 truck that you may be familiar with. However, it is strikingly different in its design, amenities, and capabilities. On the exterior, you will notice that it has the same strong profile and confident side accents as the gas-powered F-150 has. However, the nose is boldly unique. The perimeter of the front end is outlined on three sides by an LED light bar. This light bar encapsulates the tall LED headlamps and the rectangular grille to create a modern, proud look.

The contemporary, muscular style of the F-150 Lightning continues throughout the cabin. Many trims have a vertically-placed, touch-style display screen that covers most of the center stack. Other trims have a smaller central display screen that sits above the controls for the auto climate control system. A second digital display screen runs across the driver’s instrumentation panel. Interior materials are trim-specific, and they may include vinyl or cloth in lower trims. Upper trims have leather or premium leather material.

The F-150 Lighting will continue to impress you with its exceptional selection of cabin equipment and technologies. Some or all trims have a 360-degree camera, evasive steering assist, adaptive cruise control, an auto climate control system, Pro Power Onboard, a sliding rear window, a wireless charging pad, heated rear and front seats, Blue Cruise, massaging front seats and a Bang & Olufsen sound system with up to 18 speakers.

You will find two electric motors in the F-150 Lightning, and this lends itself to an all-wheel drive drivetrain. These motors are paired with your choice of battery packs. The entry-level battery pack has a range of 230 miles. It delivers 426 horsepower and produces far more torque than the gas-powered F-150 trims offer. The extended-range battery pack takes you 320 miles on a full charge, and it gives you control of over 580 horsepower.
