Embrace Dependability with Our Ford Dealer Near Dallas, TX

What started as a modest trading post became the bustling city of Dallas, TX. The trading post was established in 1841 by John Neely Bryan along the Trinity River. As the only good crossing point of the river for miles, it was a great location to draw the attention of a population migrating across the country. While the origin of the name Dallas is uncertain, the town was granted a charter in 1856.

With two highways running through and a service center in the otherwise rural area, Dallas became a hub of activity. The first factory was established in 1852, with more industries making their homes alongside. Economic expansion largely relied on better transportation in and out of the area, creating a boom once the Houston and Texas Central Railroad established lines through the area in the 1870s. Its strategic location made it a world center for the leather and buffalo-hide trade.

Dallas continued to thrive with a growing network of newspapers, electric companies, and other businesses in the late 1800s and into the 1900s. From the Federal Reserve Bank to a Ford auto assembly plant opening in the 1910s, Dallas maintained its position as a national leader in commerce.

Like most of the nation, the area struggled through the Great Depression. Dallas bankers were the first to consider lending money to oil companies using oil in the ground as collateral, making Dallas the center for petroleum financing. Ingenuity led the development of Dallas, offering work to local builders through the Fair Park site of the Texas Centennial celebration.

The second industrial boom in Dallas came after World War II. War-related industries, including North American Aviation, contributed to its growth. In 1949, five businesses opened each day, and 13 new manufacturing plants opened each month. Dallas remained at the forefront of innovation, becoming a technological center in the 1950s and 1960s. The Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport opened in 1974, making it the home of many corporate headquarters and business centers.

More recently, insurance and oil have been major focuses for Dallas businesses. It has grown into a major cultural center, with opera, ballet, musicals, and symphonies accompanying world-class athletes for the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers.

Hard work, determination, and resilience embody the soul of Dallas, making it the right complement for a new Ford. Ford has long-lasting roots in the Dallas area. Just as regional businesses keep up with the changing needs of the community, Ford cars, trucks, and SUVs offer modern features and details that can accompany your lifestyle. Ford offers vehicles as dependable as you are, so you can rely on them for a day at the Dallas Zoo, jobsites throughout DFW, and exploring the area's outstanding architecture.
