The compact Escape crossover SUV has been a popular model in the Ford lineup for many years, and its appeal is boosted in the 2023 model year with several updates. Our North Central Ford team takes considerable pride in providing each customer with our full support as they get to know the options, and we want to help you discover all that the Escape offers. What are the differences and similarities between the 2022 Ford Escape and the 2023 version?

Performance

While there are many improvements to the 2023 Ford Escape, the crossover's performance capabilities have not changed. In both 2022 and 2023, the Escape has four engine possibilities. The base engine is a 180-horsepower, turbo 1.5-liter, three-cylinder machine with an eight-speed auto transmission and front-wheel drive. The other gas engine is a 250-horsepower, four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbo unit with an all-wheel drive layout. A hybrid, 2.5-liter system that produces 192 total horsepower is available and linked to a continuously variable transmission. The Escape PHEV is a plug-in hybrid variation of the standard hybrid engine, and it delivers up to 201 combined horsepower.

Appearance

The Escape has a redesigned exterior for 2023. The new look has an octagon-like grille with a radiating-style mesh and a thin, downturned bumper with a metallic accent bar. The nose bends into the tall foglight ports. The headlights have also been restyled and have an upper LED bar and a pair of U-shaped, lower LED bars. Exterior features for both years are 17-inch wheels or larger, auto high beams, tinted windows, a power liftgate, a skid plate, roof rails, and heated side mirrors.

Features

The available features in each trim have been shuffled slightly for 2023. Equipment available for both years includes leather upholstery, automated parking, a B&O premium audio system, a head-up display, smart device app connectivity, a universal garage door opener, a surround-view camera, a wireless charging pad, up to a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, a navigation system, evasive steering assistance, driver's seat memory settings, remote ignition, heated seats, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, onboard Wi-Fi and other exciting features.
